Montessori believed that each child is an individual with unique talents and interests who creates through his/her activities the adult he of she will once become. Our job as adults is to create the optimal environment for such natural, uninhibited growth. With that in mind each of our nurseries offers:
1. A beautiful, orderly, home like space that promotes natural development of children in accordance with their own internal schedule. Montessori Renaissance Village offers a unique Montessori experience in a home like setting to children ages 3-6 yrs as well as children ages 18 mos. – 3 yrs old. Dr. Maria materials as well as many opportunities to participate fully in the life of the community through a variety of practical life activities are made available to the children throughout the day. 2. Involvment with Music through listening, singing and experimenting with instruments. These activities develop innate musical talents of children. 3. Involvment with Art in variety of forms and materials. 4. Exposure to the sounds of foreign languages. 5. Natural and organic foods. Whole grains, soy, fish and chicken. Vegetarian menu is available. 6. Outdoor activities and play. 7. Monthly parents’ gathering during which staff offers resources and information to parents on how to best foster their child’s talents. 8. Monthly Workshop on “Bringing the Montessori Way into your Home” during which each family is able to fully apply the Montessori philosophy to their unique space and lifestyle. 9. Staff that is thoroughly and continuously trained in the Montessori philosophy, materials and behaviors necessary to promote natural development and fulfillment of each child’s potential.
“The child is endowed with unknown powers, which can guide us to a radiant future. If what we really want is new world, then education must take as its aim the development of these hidden possibilities”. Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p.4.
